With the New Year fast approaching and it being the dreaded time to start thinking about resolutions to make life better in 2011 I’m going to take a moment to write mine down. I’m a big believer that whilst we can all talk about them freely and never put them into practice the reverse is true when we write things down. I’m sure we all make bullet lists of things we need to do, shopping lists, mark on calendars key dates and a host of other things to remind us of what we need to do. Writing down your resolutions for the New Year is one that should fall into the same category; write it down and it acts as a visual reminder of things you need to do and spurs you on to doing it.
I’m now going to follow my own advice and write mine down so be sure to check back at the end of 2011 to see how well I’ve done.
- Join some of the organisations I’ve been meaning to join for ages
- Support a charity more actively and contribute both time and knowledge
- Support my cousen’s Social Media activities; his Social Media in Business events in particular
- Keep blogging about Communities and Social Media
- Aid my father in getting his new consultancy business off the ground
I think 5 points is a good number to be going on with and now that I’ve written them down I’ve got clear goals to aim for. Some may be a little easier to achieve than others but if there are a couple of “quick wins” then it means I can spend more time and effort on ensuring I also complete the others.
Here’s to a successful 2011!
